What a player of the match graphic is

The player of the match graphic is a single-player card — player photo, name, club badge, sponsor logo. It is the one graphic players tag themselves in, the one parents screenshot, the one that does more for player recruitment than any form on the club's website.

It is also the most personal graphic in the set. Every other graphic is about the team — this one is about an individual. That is what makes it travel: the player's family share it, the player's school friends see it, the local paper picks it up.

When the player of the match graphic posts

After the final whistle, once the player is confirmed. For home matches that is within minutes. For away matches it can be slightly longer — the player needs to be identified and the photo confirmed. The retainer covers this: we handle the identification, the design and the posting.

Quick answers

What if there is no player photo available?
The template uses a silhouette placeholder with the player's name and squad number. It still reads as a club graphic — the placeholder is styled to match the template, not a generic stock photo.
Can the player of the match be from the opposition?
